Installing repair kit for headlight hous‐  
ing  
Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Torque screwdriver -VAS 6494-  
The front left headlight -MX1- and front right headlight -MX2-  
will henceforth be referred to as “headlight”.  
Note  
Defective headlight retaining tabs can be replaced by installing  
the repair kit for headlight housing. There is therefore no need  
to renew the headlight.  
Note  
Various headlight housing repair kits are available for the head‐  
light ⇒ Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA).  
Installing  
– Remove headlight with defective retaining tab ⇒ Rep. gr. 94;  
Removing and installing headlight.  
– Remove remaining parts of defective retaining tab from  
headlight housing.  
– Fit retaining tab -3- of repair kit to headlight -1-.  
– Tighten bolts -2-.  
– Install headlight and align it flush to body contour.  
– Check headlight settings and adjust headlights if necessary

Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ ESD workplace -VAS 6613-  
♦ Torque screwdriver -V.A.G 1624-  
The front left headlight -MX1- and front right headlight -MX2-  
will henceforth be referred to as “headlight”.  
The left headlight range control motor -V48- and right headlight  
range control motor -V49- will henceforth be referred to as “con‐  
trol motor”.  
Removal and installation are described for the left vehicle side  
as an example.  
Removing  
– Remove headlight ⇒ Rep. gr. 94; Removing and installing  
headlight.  
NOTICE  
Risk of damage to electrical components.  
Electrostatic charge may damage electrical components.  
– Work on electrical components must always be carried out  
at an ESD workplace.  
– Place headlight onto ESD workplace -VAS 6613-.  
– Turn height adjustment screws at top of headlight as far as  
stop towards right.  
– Use a hammer to carefully release housing cover -1- along  
predetermined break line -2-.
