Gear oil
4.1
Checking gear oil level
CAUTION
Risk of injury from escaping oil.
Irritation and injury to eyes and skin possible.
– Wear safety goggles.
– Wear protective gloves.
Important
•
Vehicle must be horizontal when checking gear oil level.
– Remove front underbody cladding ⇒ General body repairs,
exterior; Rep. gr. 66; Underbody cladding; Removing and
installing front underbody cladding.
– Unscrew plug for gear oil filling and inspection hole -arrow-
from three-phase current drive 2 -VX97--1-.
Important
•
The gear oil level is correct when the gearbox is filled to the
lower edge of the oil filler hole.
– Fill gear oil ⇒ Rep. gr. 34; Gear oil; Draining and filling gear
oil.
– Screw in and tighten new plug for gear oil filling and inspec‐
tion hole -arrow-.
